Diagnosis Psychous
A downloadable game
A psychological horror game inspired by 50's B-movies
A long time ago, Marcus Cartip's mother disappeared in an incident at the old mental hospital where she worked. While others thought that she was dead Marcus felt it in his gut that she was still alive. Just at the end of his 21st birthday, he receives a note written in his mother's hand. It tells him to go to an old building located somewhere in the middle of the forest. Wanting to uncover the truth, he heads out to the given location to solve the mystery of what happened. But the real question is, can YOU handle the horror that awaits?
For system requirements: It can run on most (if not all) PCs. While a Linux build is underway, it can run using WINE. I do not have a Mac build planned (sorry apple users).
Devlog (non existant) Bulid 5: I've stagnated on the work for the game... It doesn't mean that I've stopped developing it. The focus changed to developing the engine more than actually developing a game. I've sidetracked myself by developing some smaller games to develop the code base for the Engine. A code base that will apply to any game that I am currently developing, including this one. This will help in streamlining the processes for anything basic like characters, player control, collisions, collision type, fail status, and more. Once this primary code base is done, then I can focus more on the stuff that I want to add in to the game, like the game's prediction deciding which events and characters you get whilst you play. Sorry if I didn't have any files to upload this time, but the game is back to square one (except the menu). Once the defult code base is done a build of the game will be uploaded where you can explore around the old abandond mental hosptial (mostly) freely.
Devlog Build 4: I think a certain youtuber is going to be happy with all the beta uploads I've put here. So this upload has a significant update to the code. Not to mention that I've even updated the movement as well. Because of this, I may have to redo collision detection, but I'll get something to work as soon as I can. I still have a bit of work to do here, but I do have one thing to figure out. This is how the door system would work. I'm thinking that you can run into the doors and just go to the next room, however, this presents a problem if you wanted to leave the area on the bottom side of the room. So which one should I go for, the one where you have to press E to exit, or should I keep a run-into a system like the one I'm going to add?
Devlog build 3: I fixed a problem that I had with the last build. However, I did have to restart the project since it was a configuration error (I didn't need to dispose of the original source code lucky enough). So now there are two EXE files that you don't need Visual Studio in order to run now... YEAY!! However, for tweaking the code, I still recommend installing Visual Studio or CodeBlocks so you can compile and run to test if your patch would work. I still have a long way to go, I need to make furniture for the various rooms, the other sound effects needed, the collision and the transition for going room to room, the puzzles, and the other 6 rooms I need to complete the demo (out on the 17th I hope!). If you have any suggestions, please let me know since I am always up for suggestions!!
Devlog build 2: Added a walking feature and a Map Editor to the game! However, I can't seem to make it compile to the 64-bit platform, or the release build of the x86 version either... I've got a lot of work to do to track down most of these problems. If you want to take a look at the files yourself, first you need either Visual Studio 2017 or CodeBlocks installed, then you need to set the file directories for the "Include" and the "Lib" directories (note: the one labeled x86 is for the 32-bit version)
(Incredibly) Early Devlog build 1: I need to get some things sorted out. I am experiencing issues with the fading. Outside of that, I need to work on my next step, character movement. then I can start with implementing the rooms, and after that, I can start working on the puzzles!
